2. Activated Carbon Filter Next, air flows into 18 lbs. of 100% coconut shell carbon filter. This filter has a two-inch activated carbon bed that absorbs odors, tobacco smoke, and chemicals such as formaldehyde, ammonia, benzene, radon, and more. Depending on usage, the carbon filter can be changed every 2 years.
3. True HEPA FilterLastly, air goes through the HEPA filter which captures airborne particulates 0.3 microns in size at 99.97% efficiency. This filter is a workhorse and removes the remaining airborne particles that may have survived the previous purification stages such as mold, bacteria, and asbestos. HEPA filtershave a lifespan of up to 5 years.
